Golden Knight’s Adin Hill Puts in Overtime in Overtime

There has been a lot of scrutiny over the Vegas Golden Knight's goaltending situation as of late. The team is currently without three of their goaltenders. Logan Thompson and Laurent Brossoit are out with lower-body injuries and Robin Lehner remains out for the year.

Tons of question marks face the current tandem of Adin Hill and newly-acquired Jonathan Quick.

But if the Golden Knights get performances as they did with Hill against the New Jersey Devils Friday night, some of these will be erased.

"Tonight he put in overtime, and I don't mean just in the game… Tonight was a game that we weren't prepared to play. I'll take the blame for that… they've got to be ready right this time of year, but Adin sure was. He had a great performance," said head coach Bruce Cassidy.

Hill stopped 45 of 48 shots and then made four consecutive saves in the shootout to seal the Golden Knight's victory.

"It was a fun game out there. Lately, it has been feeling like we're playing playoff hockey as we're leading up to the playoffs. Tonight was another playoff-type game just like the other night against Carolina… I felt good out there and I felt like I was making good reads and seeing the puck well," said Hill.

In overtime, the dynamic scoring offense of the Devils pinned the VGK in their own zone and got eight shots in the OT frame alone.

"They have some good players over there. They have a lot of skill in their lineup and they're a fast team. I thought we did a good job just all around just trying to keep them to the outside. Their guys are quick and they got some skill over there," said Hill.

If not for the play of Hill and some wacky bounces that led to Jonathan Marchessault goals, the Golden Knights likely would have lost the game.

"He's been great for us all year, to be honest. He's been working hard off the ice and on the ice. He always had a good mindset and a good attitude. He wants to get better and this was a big game. He gave us a chance to win and we were able to get the two points. It's all in his honor and that's one of those things where you are just super happy for your teammates," said Marchessault.

The Golden Knights will practice tomorrow at noon before they play the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
