WATCH: Golden Knight’s Chandler Stephenson Competes in Fastest Skater

Two Vegas Golden Knights competed in the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Sunrise, Florida Friday afternoon which kicked off All-Star Weekend. Both Chandler Stephenson and Logan Thompson took to the ice in the VGK's reverse retro jerseys to compete in the Fastest Skater and Tendy Tandem challenges respectively. 

Stephenson started off the event racing against Dylan Larkin (DET), Kirill Kaprizov (MIN), Cale Makar (COL), and Andrei Svechnikov (CAR) in the Fastest Skater Competition. The event is quite simple as all five players raced around FLA Live Arena as quickly as they could. Stephenson finished third with a 14.197-second lap.

Andrei Svechnikov (13.757 seconds) and Kevin Fiala (13.997 seconds) advanced to the final, and in the final Svechnikov won (13.699 seconds) over Fiala (14.114  seconds). Dylan Larkin (14.558 seconds) who has the all-time record in this competition (12.894 in 2016) finished fourth and Cale Makar (22.304 seconds) finished last as he fell.

This was the first All-Star Game appearance for Stephenson, who replaced Matty Beniers of the Seattle Kraken. Both he and Thompson will play in the traditional All-Star Game Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. as they play the Central Division.
