Two Vegas Golden Knights competed in the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Sunrise, Florida Friday afternoon which kicked off All-Star Weekend. Both Chandler Stephenson and Logan Thompson took to the ice in the VGK's reverse retro jerseys to compete in the Fastest Skater and Tendy Tandem challenges respectively.

Thompson competed in the new Tendy Tandem Challenge where eight goalies, one goalie from each division split between a shooting goalie and one the in-net goalie. The shooting goalies earned n points based on the accuracy of their shots at the net, and the in-net goalies will face rushes of three, two, or one player(s), based on the number of points earned by the shooting goalie in their tandem. The Central Division tandem of Juuse Saros (NSH) and Connor Hellebuyck (WPG) won the event with 13 points. Thompson and Stuart Skinner (EDM) placed second with 11 points. Linus Ullmark (BOS) and Andrei Vasilevisky (TBL) took third with nine points and in the last Igor Shesterkin (NYR) and Ilya Sorokin (NYI) with six points.

Thompson was the designated in-net goalie for the Pacific and stopped shots from Seth Jones (CHI), Jason Robertson (DAL), Vladamir Tarasenko (STL), Kirill Kapriszov (MIN), Josh Morrissey (WPG), and Emily Clark (women's hockey guest). However, he allowed a goal to the Colorado Avalanche duo of Cale Makar and Nathan Mackinnon.

This was the first All-Star Game appearance for Thompson, who was one of the first 32 players named to the event. Both he and Stephenson will play in the traditional All-Star Game Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. as they play the Central Division.
