I'm not sure what to expect after today's game in terms of New Year's Eve on the Las Vegas Strip. The Vegas Golden Knight's plat at noon, so that means the game will be getting out around three. I have been told to get out of town as soon as possible if I plan on making it home to Boulder City for the night. But a part of me wants to stay and see what festivities are going on. Any recommendations on where to go?

A big factor in a lot of people's nights tonight will be whether or not the Golden Knights win. They have a 12:00 p.m. matchup against the Nashville Predators at T-Mobile Arena. In the meantime, here's what's happening around the National Hockey League.

Vegas Golden Knights

2022: The top Vegas Golden Knights moments of 2022 as we enter a new calendar year

Injury Updates: On the statuses of Paul Cotter, Jonathan Marchessault, Pavel Dorofeyev, Alec Martinez, and more.

Vegas: For no reason at all, here's a compilation of #ExpressiveMarkStone.

Trade Talk: Could the Golden Knights be a suitor for James van Riemsdyk? How about Bo Horvat? Do they have the assets necessary?

Washington: Former Washington Capitals Stanley Cup Champion, Devante Smith-Pelly has retired from the NHL. Playing alongside Chandler Stephenson in 2018, DSP scored seven goals in the Capitals' run to the Stanley Cup and three in the Final against the Vegas Golden Knights. Great career.

Standings Update/Quick Analysis: It's been a bit since I've looked at the standings, so I figured we better do it together.

Pacific: VGK 50, LAK 48, EDM 42 | CGY 41 (WC), SEA 40, VAN 35, SJS 29, ANA 24

Things are tightening up with the Kings just two points behind the VGK, but they have played one more game. The Kraken, Flames, Oilers, Kings, and Golden Knights all have a reasonable shot of making the playoffs this season.

In the Central: DAL 50, WPG 45, MIN 42, | COL 41 (WC), STL 37, NSH 35, ARZ 31, CHI 20

Essentially just the Sharks, Ducks, Blackhawks, and Coyotes are out of things as we enter 2023.

Clip of the Day: Three goals in under four minutes for the Edmonton Oilers. Sheesh. Connor McDavid now has 70 points. (It's December).
