The Vegas Golden Knights have reportedly placed captain Mark Stone on long-term injured reserve, according to CapFriendly. Additionally, Daniil Miromanov has been placed on standard injured reserve.

This move creates two additional roster spaces for the VGK and also frees up $9.5 million in cap space, giving the current roster roughly $8.7 million available.

Stone has been injured since Jan. 12 and has missed the last 13 games due to another unfortunate back injury. On Jan. 31, Stone had his second back surgery in nine months and was announced to be out indefinitely by the team. Given that he has missed over ten games already, he can return any time.

But given his injury, Stone is out for the foreseeable future and the Golden Knights are placing his contract on LTIR for additional cap space and contract spot. Earlier on Monday the team recalled goaltender Michael Hutchinson from the Henderson Silver Knights, which could be related to this move.

Miromanov has been injured since Dec. 31st with a lower-body injury.

The 2023 NHL Trade Deadline is just 11 days away and it is likely the Golden Knights will add at forward, meaning this move is likely a precursor move for general manager Kelly McCrimmon.
