The Vegas Golden Knights are winless in their last six games against Pacific Division teams.

These games date back to November of 2022, but the statistic still stings. Especially for a Golden Knights team that missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. The VGK are safe for now, with a solid 28-14-2, 58-point record that places them first in the division currently.

But A 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Saturday night was the most recent Pacific Division loss for the Golden Knights. Both the Los Angeles Kings (56 points) and the Seattle Kraken (56 points) are gaining ground on the Golden Knights. The Kraken have games at hand.

"We know the type of team we are. We're towards the top of the league. So if you look at it from a bigger picture, we're fine. We know how good we are. We have a lot of guys out of the lineup. So that hopefully takes a factor. Hopefully, when we're healthy, we can get back to our main game; we have to grind out," said Paul Cotter after the win.

Not only are the Golden Knights losing these games, but they are losing them dramatically. In this stretch, they have suffered two 5-1 losses, one to the Kings and another to the Vancouver Canucks. They lost 4-2 to the Kraken, and also in the shootout to a weak Anaheim Ducks team.

"It's new to me this year, so some of the division rivalries I'm asking about. Having said that, I still know this was an important hockey game. I don't have to know the history… We will have to emphasize it more clearly. But if I have to emphasize that we're planning division team, then shame on the guys and the leadership group for not recognizing that," said head coach Bruce Cassidy.

Luckily for the Golden Knights, they have a lot of time to figure this problem out, as their next Pacific Division game isn't until mid-February. They will play last-in-the-division Anaheim Ducks and then the San Jose Sharks next, who the VGK have been historically good against in the regular season.
