The Vegas Golden Knights welcomed back two players at practice Wednesday morning at City National Arena. Both Jack Eichel (lower-body) and Paul Cotter (upper-body) returned to the team in full contact jerseys. Jonathan Marchessault once again skated in a blue practice jersey.
Additionally, the Golden Knights announced that they have sent both Byron Froese and Jonas Rondbjerg back down to the AHL.
Eichel has missed the last eleven games with a leg injury that he sustained against the Detroit Red Wings on Dec. 3rd. Paul Cotter was hit by Jared Tinrodi in the Golden Knight's Dec. 15 win against the Chicago Blackhawks and has missed eight games. Both are expected to play in the Golden Knight's Thursday matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, which will start a seven-game homestand.
Marchessault is not expected to play Thursday but could be an option Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.
With injured players returning, head coach Bruce Cassidy shuffled up his line combinations. Given his recent scoring success, Michael Amadio remained on a line with Mark Stone and Chandler Stephenson. Eichel formed his own line with Reilly Smith and Nicolas Roy. The defensive pairings remained the same.
The VGK are still without Marchessault, Pavel Dorofeyev, Alec Martinez, Shea Theodore, Daniil Miromanov, Zach Whitecloud, and Brett Howden. Howden was seen riding an exercise bike on the Golden Knight's practice bench prior to the start of practice.
