Daily Nuggets: Golden Knights Shouldn’t Trade Karlsson; Marner Updates

Good morning, folks. On Friday, more details crawled out of the woodwork about the trade talks between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Oh, and the secret third team. However, if they want Marner, they’ll have to shed salary first– but William Karlsson cannot be the cap casualty.
Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, an American folk hero announced his retirement from the NHL. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens reflect on their interest in Golden Knights pending RFA defenseman Nic Hague. The Florida Panthers pummeled the Edmonton Oilers, and Brad Marchand set an impressive record in the process.
Golden Knights News
Hear ye, hear ye. On Friday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reported that the Golden Knights and the Toronto Maple Leafs resumed Mitch Marner trade talks at the 2025 Trade Deadline. Only this time around, there was a third team involved: the Carolina Hurricanes.
So, we know that the interest between the Golden Knights and Marner is– or, at least, was– mutual. However, unless Marner wants to be a $9 million player, the Golden Knights will have to shed salary to be able to afford him. However, amidst rumors and speculation, they should avoid trading William Karlsson at all costs.
