Daily Nuggets: Golden Knights Offseason Chatter; Hague Rumors

Good morning, folks. The Vegas Golden Knights are in full offseason mode, which means that rumors are flying every which way. If the trade rumors are anything to go off of, this summer is going to be one heckuva ride.
And that doesn’t just apply to the Golden Knights– elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, the Jason Robertson train has left the station. The Colorado Avalanche found a long-term solution to their second-line center problem. The Pittsburgh Penguins hired a head coach, and across Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Flyers are once again shopping a veteran defenseman.
The Stanley Cup Final kicked off last night, and it was well worth the wait. It was fast-paced, it was exhilarating, and it was nasty. There’s clearly no love lost between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers; these teams do not like each other. I can’t wait for Game 2.
Okay. Let’s talk some hockey!
Golden Knights News
Things move fast in this league– blink, and you’re sure to miss something. Just days ago, Nic Hague was listed on trade boards as a player reportedly garnering interest around the league. Now, a trade partner may have emerged for the defenseman. Per Elliotte Friedman, the Philadelphia Flyers have been linked to the pending RFA.
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank all those who participated in the Mailbag. I know I say this often, but only because it’s true– interacting with you all is one of my favorite parts of this job. It’s going to be a long offseason, and we’ll do another soon. For now, let’s talk about Jonathan Marchessault, Reilly Smith, Mitch Marner, and much more.
NHL News, Rumors, & National Hockey Now
Sportsnet: The Stanley Cup is the most coveted trophy in sports, and it’s the hardest to win. However, the most impressive individual trophy is the Ted Lindsay Award– and Nikita Kucherov just took home his second.
Florida Hockey Now: Sign me up for six games as fast-paced and intense as this one, please. The Edmonton Oilers and the Panthers traded blows all night before Leon Draisaitl landed the killing strike in overtime. For the Panthers, an impressive statistic comes to an abrupt end.
Colorado Hockey Now: For three years, the Avalanche have had a glaring weakness in their lineup. They’ve been trying to find a suitable second-line center ever since losing Nazem Kadri to Free Agency in the summer of 2022. Now, it seems that the void has finally been filled.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: After a search filled with smoke and red herrings, on Wednesday, the Penguins announced their next head coach. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Dan Muse? Who? Well, if you’ve never heard that name, don’t fret– as always, Dan Kingerski has you covered with all the nitty gritty details.
Philly Hockey Now: In Philadelphia, defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has been in rumors for what seems like years. Bigshocker– he’s on the trade block again.
New Jersey Hockey Now: Let’s get back to the elite 40-goalscorer that, for some reason, the Dallas Stars want to trade. Jason Robertson is on the trade block, and he’s exactly the kind of player that the Devils need. It’s not often that the perfect trade target emerges; the Devils need to go all-in.
New York Islanders Hockey Now: Never fear, folks. After the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off and the 2026 Olympic Games, the All-Star Game will return in 2027. Or, at least, there will be an ‘All-Star style event.’
