Good morning, folks. The Vegas Golden Knights have a Round 2 date with the Edmonton Oilers. However, the schedule hasn’t been released yet; the NHL is waiting on the results of Round 1 first. So, before we look ahead, let’s remember the years Marc-André Fleury spent with the Golden Knights. And for the first time in his NHL career, Jack Eichel is an award finalist.

Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, we’ve got two Game 7s coming our way this weekend. After that, we’ll see a Round 2 rematch between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers. Two teams majorly missed out on the best free-agent head coach. Last but certainly never least, another episode of The Canucks and the Restless. I think Jim Rutherford just hinted that the Vancouver Canucks are open to trading captain Quinn Hughes.

Golden Knights News

When the Golden Knights advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday, they didn’t just eliminate the Minnesota Wild– they also ended the career of future Hall of Fame goaltender Marc-André Fleury. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and look back at Flower’s most memorable moments in a Golden Knights sweater. Au revoir, Marc-André; the pleasure was ours.

On Friday, the NHL continued announcing the finalists for individual awards. If you ask me, Jack Eichel should’ve been a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, but apparently, that’s an unpopular opinion. Eichel was, however, named as a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy. Small victories.

NHL News, Rumors, & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: Mark your calendars– there will be a Game 7. On Friday, the St. Louis Blues shellacked the Winnipeg Jets at home and chased Connor Hellebuyck for the third time this series. Finally, Round 1 is living up to the hype!

100% Hockey: Now I lay me down to sleep; I pray, dear Lord, that Jim Rutherford never develops a filter. Sorry, that doesn’t rhyme– I’m a little preoccupied with trying to figure out if Rutherford just hinted at a future Quinn Hughes trade.

NHL.com: It’s Award season! On Friday, the NHL announced the finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, and the Jack Adams Award.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Golden Knights aren’t the only team remembering Marc-André Fleury– Dan Kingerski compiled a list of Flower’s five best hits.

Colorado Hockey Now: Ah, the two best words in sports: Game 7. On Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche will dance with the Dallas Stars in an attempt to exorcize their demons– but to do so, they’ll have to go through a familiar “friend turned foe.”

Florida Hockey Now: Some people never learn– just two years after the hockey gods granted Toronto Maple Leafs fans their wish, the “We want Florida!” chants are back.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils have their bench boss in Sheldon Keefe, and they’re happy with him. However, before Keefe, they had their eye on another head coach– one who now coaches their fiercest rival.

Boston Hockey Now: The Bruins are just one of several NHL teams with a head coaching vacancy and lost out on the biggest fish in the sea. Where do they go from here?
