Good morning, folks. The Vegas Golden Knights head into Minnesota on Thursday for Game 3 of their series against the Wild. On Tuesday, the Wild stunned the Golden Knights and routed them at home; tonight, they’ll look to bounce back and regain control of the series.

Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog returned to the NHL on Wednesday. It might be time for the Edmonton Oilers to hit the panic button. The times, they are a-changin’ in New York– on Long Island, that is; in the Big Apple, the Rangers inked general manager Chris Drury to a multi-year extension.

In other news, I’ve unfortunately returned from my trip to Vegas. I’m currently in the process of moving, so to quote one of my favorite movies from the 1990s: “I’ll be back.”

I particularly enjoyed seeing the clever gameday signs outside of Beerhaus. If anyone happens to be in the area today and feels inclined to snap a picture, please send it my way. You can find me on Twitter at @h_kirk6

Golden Knights News

It was a blood bath. On Tuesday, the Wild entered a feeding frenzy and preyed on every mistake the Golden Knights made. The Wild took their first lead of the series and never looked back; the Golden Knights couldn’t solve Filip Gustavsson until they were down 4-0 in the second period. Here’s a guide of what not to do on Thursday in Game 3.

NHL News, Rumors, & National Hockey Now

TSN: Trial has begun for the five accused members of the 2018 World Junior Hockey Canada team. Rick Westhead has all the details– none of which are easy to read.

Sportsnet: Could this be the year that the Los Angeles Kings finally wake up from their recurring nightmare? It’s hard to count out Connor McDavid, but the Edmonton Oilers haven’t looked like Stanley Cup favorites through two games. Of course, it could be because they don’t have the power of harmonicas.

Colorado Hockey Now: It’s been a long road to recovery for Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, but all his hard work paid off on Wednesday. Landeskog returned to the NHL lineup for the first time in nearly three years.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: In Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas’s press conference on Monday, he had quite a bit to say. He called Erik Karlsson out for underperforming and insinuated that others were complacent. But perhaps most notable was what was left unsaid entirely.

Boston Hockey Now: If Bruins fans were holding out hope that general manager Don Sweeney would be fired, they’re out of luck. Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs held a press conference on Wednesday and confirmed that Sweeney would be sticking around.

Philly Hockey Now: Heads continue to roll in Flyersland, and on Wednesday, three assistant coaches met their fates.

New York Islanders Hockey Now: On Tuesday, the Islanders released general manager Lou Lamoriello after years of mediocrity and stagnation. So, who comes next?

Forever Blueshirts: The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but for fans in New York, it sure might look that way. Days after the Islanders canned their underwhelming general manager, the New York Rangers signed theirs to a multi-year extension.

NHL History: On April 24th, 1979, the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers made history and set a record for the most goals in one period; they combined for nine.
