Golden Knights Sign Top Goaltending Prospect to Entry-Level Contract

On Thursday, March 27th, the Vegas Golden Knights announced they had signed goaltender Cameron Whitehead to a two-year, entry-level contract.
The Golden Knights selected Whitehead in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Whitehead is 21, 6’3, and catches left.
The league named Whitehead Hockey East Goaltender of the Week thrice during the 2024-25 season. He played 35 games for the Northeastern Huskies and finished with a record of 13-17-3 and a .911 save percentage. Whitehead was most recently awarded Goaltender of the Week on Monday, March 23rd, after leading the Huskies to the Hockey East semi-final. The Huskies defeated the Merrimack Warriors in the opening round and upset the number-one-ranked Boston College Eagles in the quarter-finals. The Huskies’ run ended with a double-overtime loss to the Maine Black Bears, where Whitehead recorded a career-high 57 saves and a .934 save percentage. So, too, finished their season; the Selection Committee didn’t include Northeastern in the 2025 NCAA Hockey Tournament.
In the 2023-24 season, Whitehead’s Northeastern Huskies record was 17-14-3, with an average save percentage of .917 in 35 games. He tied the program record for most shutouts in a single season with four and led them to their ninth program Beanpot Title.
Whitehead isn’t the only promising goaltending prospect in the Golden Knights’ system. In the American Hockey League, Carl Lindbom is playing exceptionally with the Henderson Silver Knights. The 21-year-old Lindbom has a record of 16-11-1, two shutouts, and an average save percentage of .915 in 29 games played. Between Carl Lindbom and Cameron Whitehead, the Golden Knights have no shortage of future talent at the goaltending position.
