Vegas Golden Knights vs Detroit Red Wings AWAY Gameday Graphic

The Vegas Golden Knights (39-19-8) are set to play the final game of a four-game road trip through the Eastern Conference. It’s been a road trip to forget— the Golden Knights have gone 1-0-2 but have routinely started slow and fallen victim to costly mental errors. They’ll look to turn the ship around against the scrappy Detroit Red Wings (31-29-6) at Little Caesars Arena.

The puck drops just after 10 a.m.

The Golden Knights are coming off one of their worst games of the season. They had a multigoal lead against the 29th team in the league but let it slip away. They fell 4-3 to the Buffalo Sabres in a shootout, and head coach Bruce Cassidy ripped their performance postgame.

The Red Wings are fighting to make the postseason for the first time since 2015-16 but have lost seven of their last eight games. They fell 4-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday after allowing three unanswered goals in the second.

Adin Hill started the first game of the back-to-back, so it’ll be Ilya Samsonov’s crease on Sunday. Samsonov has a record of 4-3-1 and an average save percentage of .901 in eight career games against the Red Wings.

UPDATED: The Red Wings have carried three goaltenders on their active roster since a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrázek led the Red Wings onto the ice, so he’ll start. Mrazek is 5-3-0 with an average save percentage of .897 through nine games. Cam Talbot is the backup.
