Buy VGK to Win the 2025 Stanley Cup

The Golden Knights are on the rebound, winning two in a row after a considerable cold streak. The team’s offensive stars weren’t lighting up the score sheet, but HC Bruce Cassidy found some answers before the mid-season break.
Despite this winter lull, the Vegas Golden Knights are still in the playoffs and a legitimate 2025 Stanley Cup contender. FanDuel Sportsbook’s 2025 Stanley Cup odds have the Knights 12-to-1 (+1200) to claim the silver chalice.
The NHL trade deadline is a little over a month away, and Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon will be working the phones to jumpstart his team for another deep-spring run.
Do you believe in the Knights? Now might be the time to buy low.
No Reason to Hit the Panic Button
The core of this Knights team went the distance in 2023, and they know what it takes to win. Yes, Mark Stone hasn’t scored a goal in six games. He’s not the only snakebitten Knight, but there’s no reason to expect this scoring slump to last through April.
The power play still ranks second in the NHL, converting 28.5% of its chances. Vegas also remains deep at forward. Defensemen like Brayden McNabb, Shea Theodore, and Alex Pietrangelo are as good a threesome as any on the blueline.
Despite the winter lull, Vegas is still tied for the Pacific Division lead with the Edmonton Oilers. The Knights’ odds will shorten significantly if they retake the solo spot on top.
McKrimmon is a River Boat Gambler
GM Kelly McKrimmon’s work on the trade wire during 2022 and 2023 catapulted VGK into elite status. The acquisitions of Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev nabbed them the Stanley Cup and continue to pay dividends.
Eichel is the Knights’ leading scorer, and Barbashev is on a 28-goal pace this season.
With VGK still within striking distance and needing a scoring spark, McKrimmon will try for another home-run deadline deal. If he pulls off a trade for Ivan Provorov and/or Michael Carcone, the +1200 will shrink drastically.
The West is a Crapshoot
So far, the Winnipeg Jets have established themselves as the premier Western Conference team. Their 81 points place them nine ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers.
Consider this: the Oilers are only two points ahead of VGK in the standings but have +650 odds to win the Stanley Cup. Connor McDavid is the best player in the game, but I don’t think a team tied in the standings should have nearly double the odds.
Buy Low on VGK to Win the 2025 Stanley Cup Now
The Golden Knights current funk changed the bookmaker’s perspective. But +1200 to win the 2025 Stanley Cup? That price is almost too good to be true.
Load up before the Knights find their stride and add some pieces at the deadline.
