Vegas Golden Knights, Mark Stone, Game 5 win

The Vegas Golden Knights blew a two-goal lead last night to the Dallas Stars and lost in overtime. The Stars lost defenseman Miro Heiskanen during the game after an awkward collision with Golden Knights captain Mark Stone. Vancouver Canucks president Jim Rutherford stirs the pot and adds to his team’s dysfunction.

Golden Knights News

Led by Wyatt Johnston’s natural hat trick, the Dallas Stars defeated the Golden Knights in overtime last night. Mark Stone recorded his 200th assist as a member of the Golden Knights but also inadvertently injured Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen.

The Golden Knights loss last night means the Edmonton Oilers still sit atop the Pacific Division. The Oilers are ahead by just one point but have a game in hand.

Alex Pietrangelo and head coach Bruce Cassidy spoke about Pietrangelo’s decision to withdraw from the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament.

Today is the last day to donate new or gently used shoes for the shoe drive at the team’s practice facility.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: Yesterday, Globe and Mail posted an interview with Vancouver Canucks president Jim Rutherford. He then doubled down on his comments, telling Sportsnet that his statement wouldn’t impact the Canucks because it was “nothing new to them.”

Sportsnet: The Washington Capitals beat the Calgary Flames last night, but a feud between Tom Wilson and Rasmus Andersson stole the spotlight.

Chicago Hockey Now: Connor Bedard scored a goal last night that will appear in his career highlight videos.

Boston Hockey Now: The city of Buffalo got their touchdown two days too late. The Buffalo Sabres pumped the Bruins 7-2 yesterday, and it was somehow even uglier than it sounds.

The New York Rangers are the real losers of the Mikko Rantanen trade; they allowed everyone involved to record their first post-trade point.

NHL History: Ten years ago today, Martin Brodeur announced his retirement from the NHL. Forty years ago today, Bryan Trottier became the 19th player in NHL history to record 1,000 points.
