Golden Knights Game 49; Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs Stars

Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars

The Vegas Golden Knights (30-14-4) are back in action today after snapping a four-game losing streak last night. They’ll look for a second consecutive win as they face the Dallas Stars (29-17-1) on Friday at American Airlines Center.

The puck drops just after 4:30 p.m.

The Golden Knights won the special teams battle last night against the St. Louis Blues, going 1/2 on the power play and 2/2 on the penalty kill. Mark Stone put the Golden Knights up early, and they held on to win 4-2.

The Dallas Stars are 2-4 after the Montreal Canadiens snapped their seven-game win streak on January 11th. Their last game was a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, which means the Stars will be well-rested. They’re third in the Central Division, but a win tonight would put them in second.

Adin Hill will start in net for the Golden Knights. Hill has a record of 3-3-0 and a .923 save percentage in six career games against the Stars.

Jake Oettinger gets the nod for the Stars. Oettinger has a record of 4-2-2 and a .925 save percentage in eight regular-season games against the Golden Knights.

Update: Brett Howden (illness) is in. Alexander Holtz comes out.

Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said the Stars “have some game-time decisions” and didn’t commit to any lineup changes. Thus, these line combinations are subject to change. I’ll update them as the day progresses.

Game Notes

The Golden Knights are 12-3-3 all-time and are on a four-game winning streak against the Stars. This is their second meeting this season. The Golden Knights took the first matchup 3-2. They’ve recorded a point in the past six games against Dallas and will look to extend that streak today.

Today’s game is the eighth of 13 back-to-backs that the Golden Knights will play this season. They have a record of 5-2-0 in the second game.

Tomáš Hertl is riding a seven-game point streak (6-5-11) and has goals in four straight.

Stars head coach Pete DeBoer spent 160 games as the bench boss for the Golden Knights. He took them to the Conference Finals in 2020 and 2021 but was fired after missing the playoffs in 2022. DeBoer’s record with the Golden Knights was 98-50-12.

Stars winger Evgenii Dadonov played 78 games for the Golden Knights during the 2021-22 season. He scored 20 goals but is probably best remembered for a botched trade that resulted in the Ottawa Senators having to forfeit their first-round pick in the 2025 or 2026 draft.

The Golden Knights have a record of 12-8-3 on the road this season. The  Stars are 17-7-1 at home.
