Daily Nuggets: Knights Ready to “Work Their Way Out”; Oilers Release McStatement, Miller Trade ‘When, Not If’

The Vegas Golden Knights are back on top of the Pacific Division but aren’t fully healthy. They’re also confident. Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, yesterday was a wild one around the league. The San Jose Sharks blew a 5-1 lead to the Nashville Predators, and fans have resorted to using nachos to distract Vezina-caliber goaltending performances.
Golden Knights News
The Golden Knights held practice yesterday, and Bruce Cassidy updated the injury report. William Karlsson was absent, but it was a maintenance day. Brett Howden is sick and is questionable to make the trip. Cole Schwindt has a lower-body injury and is week-to-week.
Remember when the Golden Knights stole a point against the St. Louis Blues? Well, it turns out that was pretty important because the Edmonton Oilers lost last night in regulation. So, the Golden Knights are back on top of the Pacific Division by a whole whopping one point.
Everyone knows that the Golden Knights are slumping, including the team. But they’re not worried. Read about it here.
Also, I’m going to include the shoe drive in every Daily Nugget until it’s over. Fans can donate new or gently used shoes at the Golden Knights practice facility until next Wednesday, January 29th.
NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
TSN: Are you tired of hearing about the Vancouver Canucks and their feuding centers? Well, too bad for you! Chris Johnston and Pierre LeBrun name three teams in on JT Miller.
Sportsnet: It’s a tough time to be the Utah Hockey Club. They’re 4-8-2 in their last 14 games, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office is making life difficult for them as they search for a permanent name.
ESPN: Corey Perry scored a goal last night. No, that’s not the news. Remember old friend Logan Thompson? He’s been unstoppable. Well, teams have finally discovered his kryptonite: nachos.
Edmonton Oilers: Hey, remember when Connor McDavid cross-checked a guy in the head? Well, the Oilers released an official statement regarding his three-game suspension. And Leon Draisaitl is a little… well, you know.
No lead is safe this year. The Tampa Bay Lightning blew a 2-0 lead to the Montreal Canadiens. The San Jose Sharks were up 5-1, but that was apparently right where the Nashville predators wanted them because the Predators went on to score the next six goals.
