Daily Nuggets: Knights Shoe Drive Underway; Three Game McSuspension, Hurricanes in on Miller

The Vegas Golden Knights lost yesterday in a shootout and are off until Thursday. A short break could be good because they’re 1-5-1 in their last seven games. But if you need something to feel good about, the Golden Knights are holding a shoe drive! Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were suspended. Myers is far from the only Canuck in the news cycle because there’s even more news on the JT Miller situation (when is there not?).
Golden Knights News
The Golden Knights stole a point yesterday against the St. Louis Blues, but their winless streak reaches four for the first time this season. Read about it here.
I mentioned this in a previous Daily Nuggets, but since it’s such a good cause, I’m going to repeat it. The Golden Knights teamed up with Zappos.com for their second annual shoe drive. Fans can donate new or gently used shoes at City National Arena and will have a chance to win Golden Knights autographed items. The shoe drive started yesterday and runs through Wednesday, January 29th.
NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Vancouver Canucks: Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet was a guest on Donnie and Dhali yesterday and provided some new insight into the Elias Pettersson/JT Miller situation. Also, this isn’t exactly news, but it went unnoticed by me due to the McCrosschecking incident. Earlier on Saturday, the Calgary Flames won in Winnipeg to roar– ha, get it?– past the Canucks in the Pacific Division standings.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Yesterday, reports surfaced that the Pittsburgh Penguins were having a firesale. The word “firesale” typically results in fans around the league feeling like vultures circling a dying animal. Unfortunately, Dan Kingerski is sorry to inform everyone that those reports were greatly exaggerated.
Speaking of the McCrosscheck, the Department of Player Safety responded. Here’s a breakdown of the incident.
