Let’s take a look at at some takeaways from Vegas’s 8-4 victory over Colorado to open their 2024-2025 campaign.

On Wednesday night, the Vegas Golden Knights opened their 2024-2025 campaign with an 8-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Let’s take a a look at three takeaways from the game.

Offense on Fire

It didn’t take long for Vegas’s offense to get into form. The Golden Knights came out firing on Wednesday, unleashing an eight-goal furry on Colorado.

Notably, Victor Olofsson, Ivan Barbashev, and captain Mark Stone all had multi-goal games, with Barbashev also contributing two assists. Zach Whitecloud also pitched in a goal, and Brett Howden added an empty-netter.

Overall, it was an impressive balanced offensive performance from the Golden Knights. If Vegas can have more offensive explosions like this one, it will be a very fun season in the Sin City.

Hill Struggles

While it was an incredible night for the Golden Knights’ offense, it was a rough season debut for goaltender Adin Hill. Vegas’s top netminder did not have his best night against Colorado, allowing four goals on 32 starts, good for an .875 save percentage.

Fortunately for Hill, thanks to the offense’s explosive night, even his C-game was enough for the Golden Knights to get the win. Hill will look to bounce back in his next start.

Eichel Spreading the Wealth

For years, Golden Knights’ star Jack Eichel has made a career out of scoring goals. On Wednesday, however, it was his helping others to score that made the difference in the game.

Eichel assisted on four of Vegas’s eight goals in Wednesday night’s victory, including both of Stone’s tallies. For his impressive performance, the former Boston University standout was named the game’s second star. (Barbashev was the first star, and Stone was the third star.

It should be the start of another strong season for Eichel, who has established himself as one of the top centers in the game..

Up Next

With the victory, The Golden Knights sit at 1-0-0 on the new season. They will continue their opening homestand with games against the St. Louis Blues on Friday and the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena for both games is set for 7:00 PM PDT.
