Daily Nuggets: Blues Miss Pietrangelo; Maple Leafs to Sign Former Golden Knight
We’re back! In the Daily Nuggets, the Vegas Golden Knights are making a play for the Latino audience and holding a Summerlin fan fest. The Pittsburgh Penguins fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the team and Sidney Crosby are close to a new contract. The Toronto Maple Leafs won the battle of wills with young winger Nick Robertson and are reportedly set to sign former Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty. And Sportsnet laid out the players in the Pacific Division who need to produce.
Welcome back to Vegas Hockey Now! Our search for a professional who is able to bring you intelligent and engaging content continues. You wouldn’t believe the weird things that have happened since the spring. We’ve hired people on two occasions only to part company before they started, and we had to do so because of some of the weirdest things we’ve ever seen.
Onward and upward. VHN will be there for the hard-hitting analysis. When a reporter emerges who doesn’t mind working more than two days a week or doesn’t request our help to start a competing blog also covering the Golden Knights in conjunction with their work with us (no joke), we are all over that person!
It’s going to be an interesting Golden Knights season. Can Tomas Hertl become the slippery scorer that he was? Can Noah Hanafin be the breezy defenseman they need? And Can Adin Hill carry the load for an entire season?
Stay tuned for answers to those questions and more.
Vegas Golden Knights
KTNV: The season is on the horizon, and it’s time to build some fan interest. The Golden Knights are holding Fan Fest in Summerlin. Here are the details.
SinBin: We love Ken at SinBin. He’s been a good friend to the Hockey Now network. He’s got a great find–St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong was on a podcast, and he was quite honest. The move led to a Stanley Cup for the Golden Knights, but Armstrong is still lamenting giving up defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.
Sports Business Journal: The Golden Knights are working hard to expand their fanbase, but they’re going far beyond Red Rock and Henderson. A few teams are courting foreign audiences, and the Golden Knights are making a push for Latin America.
NHL Trade Talk, News, & Hockey Now
Sportsnet: The Golden Knights and rivals have players who need to come through this season. The Pacific Division is stacked–Edmonton won the Western Conference, and the Golden Knights won the 2023 Cup. So, who are the players for each team who need to pick up the pace?
Leafs Nation: The Toronto Maple Leafs finally buckled young and unhappy winger Nick Robertson, signing him to a one-year deal for only $875,000. Robertson has requested a trade on multiple occasions, but Toronto has a great need for a LW. Another player they are bringing into the fold is former VGK hired hand Max Pacioretty. Here’s how that’s going down.
San Jose Hockey Now: Sheng Peng crashed the Sharks captain’s practice as newly acquired Yaroslav Askarov donned the teal for the first time. Check out the story and the video of the San Jose Sharks practice.
Colorado Hockey Now: Oh, hockey season is close, and the 2022 Stanley Cup champions are going to face another serious challenge. Here are three reasons that Avs fans look forward to the coming Colorado Avalanche season.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Whew! There was growing concern because Sidney Crosby was not signed beyond this season. Technically, he’s still not signed, but Crosby finally broke his silence and said he’s “pretty optimistic” about getting a deal done soon. Here’s the Pittsburgh Penguins scoop.
Chicago Hockey Now: It seems a lifetime ago that the Golden Knights vanquished the Florida Panthers, who are now the defending Stanley Cup champions. Chicago is trying to rebuild around phenom Connor Bedard. Here’s what Florida can teach the Chicago Blackhawks.
