The Vegas Golden Knights lost their opening game of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs and now trail the Winnipeg Jets 0-1. It was a game of mistakes for the Golden Knights, and the Jets simply capitalized off some egregious errors made by the VGK. William Karlsson was the only player to solve Connor Hellebuyck, and Adam Lowry added insult to injury at the end of the game with two late goals.

The Golden Knights will practice tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. in preparation for Game 2 of the series.

On a more positive note, captain Mark Stone returned to the lineup after missing months with a back injury. Stone reinforced how turnovers were the X factor in the game.

"They are real stubborn. If you look at their goals, there were a couple of turnovers and a lot of self-inflicted wounds. We just have to try and keep pushing to the middle throughout the neutral zone and into their zone," said Stone.

Center Jack Eichel also skated in his first career Stanley Cup Playoff game. He had two shots on goal and was a -3.

"I think maybe at times we were a little passive and didn't play as confident. It just wasn't our best… We've got to be resilient here. It's a seven-game series; we just have to come back and be ready next game," said Eichel.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy stated that the Golden Knights

"This playoff hockey. You need an intensity level that is greater than the one we had… I don't think they were doing anything special. They get full value for the win- don't get me wrong.. but some of it was self-inflicted. So we've got to we've got to start with that," said Cassidy.

Game 2 will be played at T-Mobile Arena at 7:00 p.m.

"It's one game. Sometimes you just flush it and go. But we will definitely have to look and see what we are doing good and what we're doing wrong," added Stone.
