The Vegas Golden Knights (42-20-6, 90 points) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (24-32-11, 59 points) by a score of 5-3, improving their record to 13-2-2 since the All-Star Break.

After Jiri Patera started against the St. Louis Blues, Jonathan Quick was back in goal for the VGK. Fellow trade deadline acquisition Ivan Barbabashev scored two goals Tuesday.

Phil Kessel and Michael Amadio switched places in the lineup, and with Carter Hart sick, Felix Sandstrom started for the Flyers.

FIRST PERIOD

  • Shea Theodore blasted a long shot from the point to get the Golden Knight's first shot of the game.
  • Jonathan Marchessault found Ivan Barbashev in the slot for a quality chance, but Felxi Sandstrom made the save.
  • PHI PP- Noah Cates was tripped by Nicolas Hague.
  • Rasmus Ristolainen tipped a point shot from Owen Tippett, and Jonathan Quick made a sprawling save.
  • Shea Theodore made a good physical defensive play on Owen Tippett to prevent him from getting to the net.

  • Jonathan Marchessault rang a shot off the post, coming down off the wall on an offensive rush.
  • Chandler Stephenson rushed back on the backcheck to break up a Flyers 2 on 1 after Shea Theodore pinched.
  • Joel Farabee shook off a defender in close range and got a shot off that Jonathan Quick stopped.
  • The Flyers' best chance of the period came when Morgan Frost stripped Jack Eichel of the puck and found Tony DeAngelo pinching in the slot.

SECOND PERIOD

  • VGK PP- Morgan Frost accidentally held onto the puck for an extra couple of seconds and took a penalty.
  • 2-0 VGK GOAL- Ivan Barbashev provided a great screen and tipped in Shea Theodore's shot from the point.
  • Felix Sandstrom made a big pad save on Paul Cotter, who found a loose puck in the slot.
  • In front of the net yet again, Ivan Barbashev attempted to stuff in a goal in the slot off a rebound.

  • 3-1 VGK GOAL- Teddy Blueger scored his first goal with the Golden Knights after the fourth line chipped away in front of the net.
  • PHI PP- Jonathan Marchessault was called for hooking.
  • On the powerplay, the puck came right to Tyson Forester, who was unable to score, just hitting the right post.
  • The Golden Knights spent a good chunk of time in their own zone late in the second but were able to keep the Flyers to the outside.
  • VGK PP- Scott Laughton slashed Pavel Dorofeyev with two seconds left in the second period.

THIRD PERIOD

  • Jonathan Quick made two big saves on both Scott Laughton and Travis Sanheim.
  • VGK PP- The Flyers were caught with too many men.
  • 4-1 VGK GOAL- The Golden Knights scored their second powerplay goal of the game, with Jonathan Marchessault finishing off a pretty passing play from Jack Eichel.
  • 4-2 PHI GOAL- Nick Seeler scored a highlight-reel goal, dancing around Shea Theodore and roofing one.
  • 4-3 PHI GOAL- The Flyers made it a one-goal game with Morgan Frost crashing the net and receiving a pass.
  • William Karlsson's pass went through Flyer's defensemen and found Reilly Smith in the slot for a chance.

  • With roughly 2:25 left, Felix Sandstrom headed to the Flyers' bench for the extra attacker.
  • 5-3 VGK GOAL- Ivan Barbashev scored on the empty net.
  • The Flyers used their timeout with 42.7 seconds left and once again pulled Felix Sandstrom.
  • VGK PP- Kevin Hayes tripped Michael Amadio with 0.3 seconds left in the game.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS NOTES

  • The Golden Knights improve their record to 13-2-2 since the All-Star Break, and they finish their five-game road trip off winning four out of five games.
  • With another assist, Shea Theodore now has 15 points in his last 17 games. Recent powerplay success has been a result of Theodore's shot, as the team's last three powerplay goals have either come directly from Theodore or from someone tipping in his shot.
  • The Golden Knights scored two powerplay goals tonight for the first time since December 21st.
  • Jonathan Marchessault has now scored a goal in three straight games, getting his goal total up to 22 this season.
  • Fellow Misfit Reilly Smith's point streak has now his six games.
  • The Golden Knights have scored four or more goals in four straight road games.
  • Elsewhere in the Pacific Division, the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames all play.

VHN's Player of the Game: Ivan Barbashev.

Barbie had a great game as he used his physicality to provide the Golden Knights with a net-front presence. Two goals too.

Up Next: The Golden Knights will return home on Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Calgary Flames.
