As you can see, there is still some work to be done in order to clear the cap space and become compliant for the VGK. Nate Schmidt has been rumored part of a nearly-completed trade, but the deal has not been finalized. Even if Schmidt’s nearly $6M cap hit is removed from the roster, Vegas will need another $1M or more in room as well. Marc-Andre Fleury’s $7M cap hit remains on the roster for the next two seasons as well.
